Emergency Consular Services

In the event of an emergency such as an accident, illness or death, a duty officer at the Embassy, as well as in the Citizens Emergency Center of the Department of State in Washington D.C. is always available to assist you.

If there is an emergency situation in the U.S. and your family or friends need to contact you urgently, they should contact the Citizens Emergency Center. Assistance is available during the work week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM and on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, by telephoning the center at (202) 647-5225. After hours, weekends and holidays, a duty officer is available by calling (202) 634-3600 or (202) 647-2000 and asking for the Overseas Citizens Services Duty Officer.
