Warning to Visa Applicants, Consulate Customers, and American Citizens

Please be advised that the American Embassy and Consulate are not affiliated with any persons or businesses outside the Embassy itself. The Embassy does not recommend any person outside the Consulate for providing services such as translation, preparation of applications or the arrangement of medical appointments. With the exception of necessary document translations or medical examinations (see below), the Embassy strongly recommends that you not pay money to any person from outside the Embassy for any service allegedly related to the issuance of a visa or passport.

Only designated Consular Officers at the American Embassy can issue an American passport or grant you a visa to go to the United States. Outside offices do not represent the U.S. government and cannot facilitate the issuance of a visa or passport.

If you require a medical examination as part of your visa application, a list of designated panel physicians will be provided to you by the Embassy. Please arrange your appointment with the doctor directly and pay only after you have received the agreed upon services. Please request a receipt from the doctor at the time the services are provided. Do not allow parties claiming that they are agents of the Embassy to set up a medical appointment for you, transport you to the doctor's office or pay the required fees.

The Embassy is not responsible for money paid to people or businesses falsely claiming that they can provide services connected to the issuance of U.S. passports or visas. If any such persons approach you and offer you services related to the issuance of American visas, passports, or other documents please notify the Consul in writing about the incident. The letter should include information that would be helpful in stopping other applicants from being harassed, including the time and date, details of the incident, i.e., what was offered to you, how was it done, and whether you were asked for money, as well as your name, address and contact information. Any sources of such information will be kept confidential.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
